Special Funds
In addition to the General Fund, for the ongoing operation of the congregation, Temple Bat Yam maintains a number of Funds designated for special programs and services for the Congregation. Contributions may be made to these funds at any time in honor or memory of a loved one, to commemorate a special occasion, to express appreciation, or for any purpose which motivates sharing with the congregation. Except where otherwise noted, contributions may be made in any amount. Contributions to Temple Funds are acknowledged to the donor, to the donee where applicable, and in HAKOL. The Special Funds are:
General Fund: supports all Temple programs.
Arthur E. Kahn Scholarship Fund: need based scholarships to Religious School students.
William Cohen Scholarship Fund: need based scholarships to Religious School students.
Educational Enrichment Fund: enhanced instructional programs and materials for the Religious School.
Littman Adult Lecture Fund: subsidizes speakers and other programs for the congregation.
Scott David Liss Memorial Fund: for the purchase of playground equipment.
Beautification and Landscaping Fund: provides for the enhancement of our Temple property.
Leo Bial Memorial Fund: for post Bar and Bat Mitzvah enrichment.
Tree of Life: a donation of $150.00 is required for a leaf on the Sanctuary Tree of Life. Forms are available at this link or from the Temple office.
Youth Group Fund: helps our Temple Youth group to participate in local and regional programs.
Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund: allocated by the Rabbi for a number of charitable purposes.
Abbye and Eli Davis Prayer Book Fund: a contribution of $45.00 is necessary for the donation of Mishkan T’filah or Gates of Repentance. Inscribed book plates are affixed to donated volumes.
Memorial Board: a contribution of $425.00 is necessary to place a name on the Memorial Board. Forms are available at this link or from the Temple office.
Building Maintenance Fund: supports the mortgage and capital repairs on our existing structure.
Torah Fund: for the opportunity to participate in the Torah Writing Project by sponsoring a gift in accordance with the sponsorship schedule.
Endowment Fund: interest from the Endowment Fund is used to provide a continuing source to endow professional salaries.
Cantor’s Discretionary Fund: allocated by the Cantor for a number of charitable purposes.
Library Fund: for the purchase of books and equipment for the Temple library.
Music & Cultural Programming Fund: underwrites music and cultural programs at the Temple.
